After graduating from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Mikhail Suhaka established his conducting career in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France. He currently serves as conductor of the Orchestre des Alpes du Sud OPUS and regularly develops symphonic, choral and educational projects in collaboration with professional and amateur ensembles.
Born in Minsk, Belarus, Mikhail began his musical education at the age of seven. During his studies at the Minsk State Music College and the Belarusian State Academy of Music, he trained in the conducting classes of Svetlana Rodzianko and later Nikolai Kolyadko. In 2015, he moved to Paris to continue his studies with Alain Altinoglu at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, graduating with a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting in 2020.
Throughout his training, Mikhail gained valuable experience working with orchestras in France, Hungary, Finland, Italy and Belarus. He further refined his artistic vision through masterclasses and academies with distinguished conductors including Jorma Panula, Johannes Schlaefli, Arie van Beek, Sakari Oramo, Mikko Franck, Enrique Mazzola, Tamás Gál, Tito Ceccherini and Lawrence Foster.
In 2018, Mikhail served as assistant conductor to Philipp von Steinaecker for the Paris Conservatoire’s production of Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto, conducting one of the performances. He also continued his artistic development at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where he worked with internationally renowned conducting pedagogues.
Alongside his conducting activities, Mikhail has been actively involved in music education. Between 2021 and 2025, he taught at the Conservatoire du Briançonnais, conducting the institution’s orchestras while teaching music theory and accordion.
A significant milestone in his career was the release of his debut recording for Naxos Records in collaboration with harpist Ionella Marinutsa and the International Parisian Symphony Orchestra. Their recording of Boris Tishchenko’s Harp Concerto received favourable reviews from critics across Europe and contributed to the international recognition of both artists.
Today, Mikhail Suhaka continues to develop artistic projects that combine musical excellence, cultural outreach and a passion for sharing classical music with diverse audiences.
